Graduated with Master of Fine Art in Illustration and Book Design Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia,Bulgaria,
Vessela Brakalova has developed a multifaceted practice that includes, graphic design, environmental design, interpretive design and public art multi media installation graphics.
Brakalova co-founded her design studio, Vis-à-Vis Graphics with partner Veselina Tomova in 1992 after immigrating to Canada.
Brakalova has worked with a variety of clientele, from artists to selected commercial and noncommercial clients.
Public art installation/multi layered digital textile work Aren’t you curious?-presently on display at GEO Centre, St.John’s (2011).
Designed catalog of Newfoudland artist Anne Meredith Barry: Natural Energies, Patricia Grattan (2007).
Art catalogs for prominent artists Elena Popova (2006), 35-135 Colours and Luben Boykov, Bridges (2005), which won a series of awards including ‘Gold medal winner’ at the 2005 ICE Awards, Halifax, plus special mention for exceptional production quality.
