Sharon Puddester


 

My work represents my relationship with the landscape. I use the word landscape as an all encompassing reference for the selection of forms that I place in an image. 

I try to visually create an experience or give evidence of movement in the landscape. The image may include ordinary representations of objects, gestural marks as well as unrelated juxtapositions.  Yet it is still a record of my response to the energy and movement of daily life. 

The process of making an image for me is one of editing, a clearing away of all that is unnecessary for the resolution of an image.  It is somewhat of a paradox that it is the layering of material in printmaking that facilities this process of reduction.
